Michael E. Retherford

Michael E. “Mike” Retherford, 53, died April 10, 2004, at Community Hospital Anderson following an extended illness. He had been employed as an auto body man at Weidner Chevrolet in Anderson. For 16 years, following a diving accident that left him a quadriplegic, he was lovingly cared for by his parents. Survivors include his parents, Basil and Ruth Retherford; two daughters, Jennifer Retherford and Melissa Ewing; two granddaughters; his brother, Edward (wife, Margaret) Retherford; and a sister-in-law, Judy Key. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Noffze Funeral Home, 501 N. Harrison St., Alexandria, officiated by the Rev. Clifton Richardson of First Baptist Church of Alexandria. Private burial will be at Park View Cemetery. Visitation hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
