CARTHAGE‑‑Dr.
Edward Smith, 48, Carthage, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000 in Hancock County.
Born
March 4, 1951, in Smithsboro, Ky., to Archie and Nancy (Brown) Smith, he was a
graduate of Ball State University, later graduating from the Indiana University
School of Medicine in 1977, specializing in emergency medicine and family
practice.
A
member of the American Medical Society and the Walnut Ridge Friends Church,
Carthage, he was a practicing physician in Delphi.
Surviving
are his mother, Nancy Smith, Jonesboro; his wife, Amanda (Arnold) Smith,
Carthage, whom he married Sept. 22, 1997; two sons, Jonathan Smith and Samuel
Smith; a daughter, Sarah Smith; a step‑daughter, Malori Austin, all of
Lafayette; a brother, Bobbi Smith; Burkesville, Ky., four sisters, Irene Donne,
Marion, Betty Lou Jones, Burkesville, Ky., Carol Stanfield, Marion, and Joan
Turner, Jonesboro; arid several nieces and nephews.
Services
were held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 3, at Harper and Dunnichay Funeral Home,
Frankton, with the Rev. Paul Einhart officiating. Burial followed at K. of P.
and I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Frankton.
